NASA prepares the Orion spacecraft for its maiden deep space exploration test flight
In short: This update covers the transport and integration of the Orion capsule ahead of its inaugural test flight. It provides a look at the logistical milestones required to prepare the spacecraft for its journey into deep space.
On November 11, 2014, NASA moved the Orion spacecraft from the Launch Abort System Facility at Kennedy Space Center to Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The capsule arrived at the launch pad on November 12, 2014.
Once at the pad, the spacecraft was mated to the top of a Delta IV Heavy rocket. This configuration is scheduled for a test flight on December 4, 2014, marking a critical step in the development of NASA's deep space exploration capabilities.
