Moving the final pieces of the Space Shuttle era to the pad

Payload to Pad for Next Shuttle Launch · 11:27 · Video: NASA · Watch at the source

In short: Witness the precise logistics of transporting mission-critical cargo to Launch Pad 39A. This footage captures the movement of essential instruments and logistics modules destined for the International Space Station.

The video documents the transport of payloads from the Space Station Processing Facility to the launch pad. For the STS-134 mission, which was targeted for an April 19 launch, the cargo included the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2—a complex science instrument built to deepen our knowledge of the universe—and the Express Logistics Carrier 3, which carries spare parts for station operations.

The footage also shows the movement of the STS-135 payload, the final flight of the Space Shuttle Program. A transportation canister containing the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module, filled with supplies and spares for the International Space Station, is lifted toward the payload changeout room on the rotating service structure of Launch Pad 39A.
