How student engineers are testing the limits of aerospace design
In short: Watch how young aspiring engineers navigate the complexities of rocket science. This video highlights a hands-on competition where students build and launch their own rockets to reach specific altitudes and execute precise recovery maneuvers.
In Huntsville, Alabama, the 16th yearly Student Launch contest took place at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center during April 16. The event tasks students with designing and constructing rockets capable of reaching an altitude of one mile while successfully deploying automated parachute systems for safe recovery.
By participating in these competitions, students engage directly with STEM fields to support NASA's broader Journey to Mars. Beyond the technical challenge, the event offers a $5,000 cash prize to reward high-flying engineering excellence.
