The final countdown to a comet's surface
In short: Watch the high-stakes preparations for one of space exploration's most daring maneuvers: landing a spacecraft on a comet. This briefing captures the atmosphere at ESA's Space Operations Centre as teams finalized the mission to reach Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko.
The video features a media briefing held on November 10 at the European Space Agency's Space Operations Centre (ESOC). It documents the final preparations for the landing of the Philae lander and the subsequent scientific exploration of Comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko.
Key leadership from both ESA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) provide insights into the mission's complexity. Input for the session features insights provided by Andrea Accomazzo (Flight Director), Sylvain Lodiot (Spacecraft Operations Manager), Matt Taylor (Project Scientist), and Stephan Ulmec (Philae Mission Manager).
