A train journey to the edge of the atmosphere
In short: Watch the precise logistics behind the Soyuz TMA-19M rollout in Kazakhstan. This video captures the transition from integration facility to launch pad, marking the final terrestrial steps for a crew bound for the International Space Station.
On December 13, 2015, the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft was transported by train from the MIK 112 integration facility to Launch Pad 1 at the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This movement prepared the vehicle for its scheduled liftoff on December 15.
The mission carried Expedition 46, a three-person crew consisting of Russian commander Yuri Malenchenko, NASA flight engineer Tim Kopra, and ESA astronaut Tim Peake. They were destined for a six-month stay aboard the International Space Station.
