The final flight of a space shuttle icon begins with a rehearsal
In short: Watch the STS-133 crew prepare for the final mission of the Space Shuttle Discovery. This video captures a media meet at Launch Pad 39A, highlighting the high-stakes dress rehearsal and the heavy cargo destined for the International Space Station.
On October 14, the six-member crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery gathered at NASA's Kennedy Space Center for a Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test. This full-scale dress rehearsal allows the crew and ground teams to practice equipment familiarization and emergency escape procedures before the scheduled November 1 launch.
The 11-day mission serves as a final chapter for Discovery, tasked with delivering the Permanent Multipurpose Module, spare components, and the Express Logistics Carrier 4. Notably, the shuttle will also transport Robonaut 2 (R2), the first human-like robot to become a permanent resident of the station.
