A 360-degree perspective from the heart of a cosmic impact
In short: Experience the scale of the Meteor Crater from its very center. This immersive 360-degree video captures the unique sensation of being enclosed by towering crater walls, offering a rare vantage point on a massive celestial collision.
Recorded during a brief rest break at the crater's floor, the footage uses a Ricoh Theta S camera equipped with dual fisheye lenses. This specific technology allows for a full 360-degree view, capturing the surrounding walls on all sides simultaneously.
The video provides a firsthand look at the impact site, though the creator notes the footage was adlibbed from memory. It serves as a visual study of the crater's geometry and the sheer scale of the impactor's velocity, which reached speeds of miles per second.
