Como 1907 reaches a historic milestone with its first ever UEFA Champions League appearance
In short: The 2026–27 season marks a significant turning point for Como 1907 as the club celebrates its 120th anniversary. Beyond competing in Serie A for the third consecutive year, the team is making its debut in the UEFA Champions League, a historic first for the Italian side in its long existence.
Spanning from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027, the 2026–27 campaign represents a landmark period for Como 1907. While the club has established itself as a consistent presence in Serie A, reaching the top tier for the third year in a row, the inclusion in the UEFA Champions League elevates the team to a new competitive stage. This expansion into European football marks the most significant development in the club's 120-year history, testing the squad against the continent's elite.
The logistical framework of the season is defined by specific transfer windows and administrative milestones. Player contracts and deals finalized prior to the start of the season became effective on 1 July 2026, setting the roster for the initial domestic and European challenges. A secondary window for roster adjustments was scheduled to take effect on 2 January 2027, allowing the club to refine its lineup mid-season. These operational timelines are critical for managing a squad that must balance the physical demands of domestic league play, the Coppa Italia, and the high-stakes intensity of the Champions League.
The competitive path for the season was further clarified on 27 August 2026, when the draw for the league phase of the Champions League took place. This moment officially set the trajectory for Como 1907's European journey, defining the opponents and the schedule that would test the club's depth and tactical resilience. As the season progresses, the team continues to navigate the complexities of FIFA eligibility rules, which govern the national representation of its diverse roster. With players moving in and out of the team throughout the year, the club's ability to integrate new talent while maintaining its core identity remains the central narrative of this historic campaign.
