Bare-knuckle fighting enters its ninth year with high-stakes championship bouts
In short: The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship season of 2026 promises a diverse schedule of combat. From heavyweight rematches to experimental heavy metal crossovers, the Philadelphia-based promotion is expanding its reach across the globe, including its first foray into the Australian market.
The 2026 season for the Philadelphia-based promotion marks its ninth year of operation. The year began on January 17, 2026, with BKFC 86 at Mohegan Sun, featuring a Welterweight Championship bout between Julian Lane and Dustin Pague. This event also saw former WBO junior lightweight boxing champion Jamel Herring make his professional bare-knuckle debut against Matt Guymon.
As the season progressed, the promotion introduced new formats and expanded its international footprint. In February, BKFC Knucklemania VI featured a heavyweight championship clash between Ben Rothwell and Andrei Arlovski. This bout was a significant rematch for the two fighters, who had previously faced each other in mixed martial arts in July 2008 and July 2019.
The promotion also launched several specialized event series. The 'Fight Club' concept, designed for warehouse-style venues with limited attendance, aims for monthly installments featuring fighters matched by similar experience and weight. Additionally, the inaugural 'Blood 4 Blood' event in May 2026 sought to merge combat sports with heavy metal music, featuring performances by bands such as Black Label Society and Crowbar alongside a middleweight bout involving Slaughter to Prevail frontman Alex Terrible.
International expansion was also a key theme, with BKFC Fight Night Australia scheduled for April 18, 2026, marking the promotion's first event in that country. Haze Hepi faced Krzysztof Wiśniewski in a heavyweight rematch during this event, following their earlier BKFC 83 bout in October 2025.
