The UFC is moving its arena to the White House
In short: In 2026, a combat sports promotion will host the first professional sporting event ever held on the grounds of the presidential residence. This historic move coincides with a massive shift in how fans watch the sport and how fighters are ranked.
The UFC's 2026 calendar is defined by a landmark media deal with Paramount Skydance Corporation, valued at $7.7 billion. Starting that year, the promotion will pivot away from its traditional pay-per-view model. Instead, all events—including 13 flagship shows and 30 Fight Nights annually—will stream on Paramount+ at no extra cost, while four major annual events will air on CBS.
A centerpiece of this new era is a scheduled event on June 14, 2026, titled UFC Freedom 250. Planned to commemorate the United States' 250th anniversary, the fight will take place at the White House and coincide with Donald Trump's 80th birthday. The event was first signaled by President Trump in July 2025 before being officially confirmed by CEO Dana White later that year.
Beyond spectacle, 2026 marks a technical overhaul of the sport's internal mechanics. In February 2013, the UFC relied on a weekly media voting panel for rankings; however, on June 20, 2026, they will transition to the Meta UFC Rankings. This new system uses an Elo-based mathematical model to calculate standings based on opponent quality and activity, aiming to reduce human bias.
The promotion is also restructuring its financial incentives. Beginning in January 2026 with UFC 324, the organization will double its standard post-fight bonuses for 'Performance of the Night' and 'Fight of the Night' from $50,000 to $100,000. Additionally, they are introducing a new $25,000 reward for any knockout or submission that does not fall into those primary categories.
