In short: Known as the 'Michael Jordan of barnyard brutes,' Bodacious was a Charbray with a lethal habit. He didn't just buck riders; he launched them, often using his massive head to strike them mid-air. This yellow-colored phenomenon became a legend that both intimidated and captivated the professional rodeo world.

Born in 1988 on Oklahoma's Merrick Ranch, Bodacious was a Charolais/Brahman crossbred, or Charbray, distinguished by a unique yellow coat. After being sold for $700 to Phil Sumner in 1991, the bull underwent a terrifying transformation. Early in his career, a botched attempt by a rookie led Bodacious to develop a specific, aggressive strategy: spinning and kicking to dislodge riders, often nearly flipping himself over in the process.

Bodacious had transformed into a unique powerhouse upon reaching his mature mass of 1,900 pounds (860 kg). Unlike many bulls that slow down as they gain mass, he maintained his agility, using his weight to jerk riders onto his broad head. This technique caused serious injuries to icons like Tuff Hedeman and Scott Breding, leading owner Sammy Andrews to eventually retire him. His reputation was so formidable that many riders suspected he intentionally 'slingshotted' cowboys to ensure they couldn't stay on.

His professional dominance was unparalleled. He secured the PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year title in 1994 and 1995, and was the 1995 PBR World Champion Bull. He remains one of only two bulls to win world championship titles in both the PRCA and PBR. Despite debates over whether he was truly the 'best ever,' his impact was cemented by his induction into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Bull Riding Hall of Fame in 2017.
