How a valedictorian transitioned from YouTube vlogger to reality TV champion
In short: Before becoming a household name in Philippine television, Brent Manalo was a high-achieving student and digital creator. From graduating cum laude to winning a major reality competition, his journey reveals the multifaceted path of a modern Filipino entertainer navigating the worlds of modeling, acting, and digital influence.
Born Lesyel Brent Romero Manalo on December 6, 1997, in Capas, Tarlac, the actor's ascent began with a strong academic foundation. He graduated as valedictorian from Wellspring High School before moving to Manila to attend De La Salle University. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising Management there. During his time at university, he frequently made the Dean's List, was nominated for 'Best Thesis' and the Jose Rizal Honors Society, and won the Ninoy Aquino Leadership Award.
Manalo's professional career is a blend of digital and traditional media. He launched a YouTube channel in 2014, focusing on lifestyle and travel vlogs. By 2018, shortly after his college graduation, he secured a campaign for an international fast-fashion brand. This success led to an invitation from Johnny Manahan of Star Magic to audition, marking his entry into the professional acting and modeling industry.
His filmography features Jeric in the 2020 iWant show Ampalaya Chronicles, Miguel 'Migs' Ilustre in the 2022 drama The Broken Marriage Vow, and Jason Coral in the 2022 series Beach Bros. He acted in the 2024 series Hayskul Crush with Shan Vesagas. His most significant television breakthrough came in 2025 during Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition, where he and his duo partner, Mika Salamanca, emerged as the Kapamilya Big Winners. Following this victory, the pair donated their winnings to Duyan ni Maria, a non-profit in Pampanga that supports underprivileged children through education.
Manalo's trajectory exemplifies the modern celebrity model, where digital content creation, academic excellence, and reality television converge to build a comprehensive public profile.
