The multi-division champion who conquered the lightweight and welterweight ranks
In short: Christian Lee is a rare force in mixed martial arts, holding simultaneous titles in two different weight classes. From his roots in Hawaii to his record-breaking run in ONE Championship, he has become one of the most decorated fighters in the promotion's history through sheer dominance and technical skill.
Christian Lee relocated to Hawaii at age five, having been born in Vancouver to a South Korean-Canadian mother and a Chinese-Singaporean father. Raised in a household of decorated martial artists, he began training early, eventually becoming a multiple-time national and world champion in pankration. His professional ascent began in 2015, and by age 17, he had signed with ONE Championship. Before his professional career, he secured two national titles and a silver medal at the 2012 USA Pankration championships. He also claimed a world title in the MMA division at the 2012 WPAF Championships.
Lee's dominance is reflected in his statistical records within ONE Championship, where he holds the highest number of wins (17), finishes (16), and knockouts (12). His career is marked by significant milestones, such as becoming the youngest male mixed martial arts world champion after defeating Shinya Aoki on May 17, 2019. This victory also established the first brother-sister pair of world champions in MMA history, as his sister Angela Lee held the ONE Atomweight Championship. His professional journey included a first-round submission victory over Mahmoud Deab Mohamed in early 2016. He also achieved a significant victory by defeating former champion Kotetsu Boku via TKO in late 2017.
His versatility is evidenced by his ability to capture titles across weight classes. He is a two-time ONE Lightweight World Champion and the current ONE Welterweight World Champion, making him only the fourth fighter in the promotion's history to hold two belts simultaneously. Despite setbacks, including a disqualification in 2018 for an illegal suplex and a controversial decision loss in 2021, Lee has consistently rebounded to secure high-level accolades, including multiple Performance of the Night awards. His move to the welterweight division involved a victory against Kiamrian Abbasov, who had missed the weight limit. This achievement solidified his status as a simultaneous two-division champion within the organisation.
