In short: Before he was a prominent figure in mixed martial arts, Darko Stošić was a dominant force on the judo mats. His journey from a small Serbian town to the global stage of the UFC and KSW reveals a remarkable transition from traditional martial arts to professional combat.

Born in Laćarak, Serbia, in 1992, Darko Stošić began his martial arts journey at age seven. Under the instruction of Miša Jovetić at the LSK Judo Club, he developed a foundation in judo that lasted until 2012. This early discipline yielded immense success; Stošić became a ten-time Serbian national champion and a two-time Balkan champion, eventually earning the title of best athlete in MMA Red Star.

At age 18, Stošić transitioned to mixed martial arts, training at the Car Du Dušan Silni gym. His early professional career, which began in 2012, saw him compete in various promotions such as Tesla Fighting Championship and Final Fight Championship, where he secured a heavyweight title. By the time he was signed by the UFC in December 2017, he had amassed an impressive 12–1 record.

His tenure in the UFC included a successful debut via technical knockout against Jeremy Kimball in July 2018, though subsequent bouts against opponents like Devin Clark, Kennedy Nzechukwu, and Jamahal Hill resulted in unanimous decision losses. Following his release from the UFC in February 2020, Stošić pivoted to the KSW promotion.

Since joining KSW, Stošić has remained a high-ranking heavyweight, currently ranked #5 in the promotion. His recent career highlights include a 2026 victory to become the FNC Heavyweight Champion and a notable 2026 knockout of Greg Hardy. His path illustrates the difficult transition from specialized grappling to the multifaceted demands of modern heavyweight MMA.
