In short: When a knight asks a solitary witch for a love potion, he doesn't realize she has already brewed one for him. To keep him coming back, she concocts a scheme involving absurd ingredient hunts, turning a one-sided crush into a complicated game of pursuit and frustration.

The story follows Rose, a witch living in isolation at a hermitage after the passing of her mother and grandmother. Her solitude is interrupted when a knight named Harij Azm visits her seeking a love potion. In truth, Rose has already secretly crafted a potion specifically for him, having fallen for his kindness and appearance four years earlier. She resides in this remote location following the deaths of her female relatives. Her attraction to the visitor stems from his handsome looks and gentle nature.

To ensure Harij continues visiting her, Rose employs a deceptive tactic: she claims she has no stock of the potion. This forces him to collect various ingredients for her, a task that initially causes him significant annoyance and frustration. He often rushes through these absurd errands simply to escape her company. The witch falsely informs her visitor that the item is currently unavailable. This deception compels the knight to undertake increasingly ridiculous quests for her.

Despite this rocky beginning, the narrative tracks a shift in their dynamic. While Harij is initially uninterested and finds her requests tiresome, he eventually begins to slowly reciprocate her feelings, even if he is hesitant to admit it. The series, originally a web novel by Eiko Mutsuhana, has expanded from its digital roots into a multi-media franchise. The protagonist's romantic interest remains entirely unrequited for a significant period. However, the knight eventually starts to return his affection despite his initial reluctance.

The intellectual journey of the series spans several formats. Originally serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō between April 2019 and March 2020, it was published as a light novel by Futabasha. A manga adaptation by Kamada followed in 2020, and an anime adaptation produced by Diomedéa premiered in October 2026. The English version of the light novel is available through Cross Infinite World. Additionally, the manga was released in English by Yen Press.
