In short: Named after the Swedish verb for to act, the Koenigsegg Agera transformed from a high-performance sports car into a record-shattering megacar. By pushing engineering boundaries with carbon fibre construction and innovative twin-turbocharged engines, it dominated global speed tests and set a new benchmark for what production vehicles could achieve.

The Agera, which succeeded the CCX, was designed by the Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg to embody performance. At its core lies a 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, a significant evolution from the 4.7-litre prototype. This powerplant utilizes a carbon fibre inlet manifold and aluminium components to keep the engine weight to just 197 kg. Power is delivered through a unique 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, notable for being the first of its kind to use only one input shaft, which allows for faster gear synchronization.

The series reached its zenith with the One:1, a track-focused model named for its perfect power-to-weight ratio of one PS per kilogram. By producing 1,360 PS, the car achieved a power output of one megawatt, leading the company to label it the world's first megacar. This pursuit of performance extended to the Agera RS, which became the fastest production car in 2017. During a closed-road test on Nevada State Route 160, it reached a two-way average velocity of 447 km/h, with a peak straight-line speed of 458 km/h.

Beyond raw speed, the Agera showcased advanced aerodynamics and material science. Its chassis integrates fuel tanks into an aluminium honeycomb structure for safety and balance, while the exterior features an electronically adjustable rear wing that compensates for wind conditions. Special editions like the 'Hundra' celebrated production milestones, and the final series—Thor, Väder, and One of One—marked the end of the line in 2018. These final models incorporated advanced features from the RS and One:1, cementing the Agera's legacy before the Jesko took over in 2019.
