In short: Born in Pilkhuwa to a lecturer and a homemaker, Kumar Vishwas initially pursued engineering to satisfy his father's wishes. However, his true passion lay in literature, leading him to abandon technical studies for a PhD and a transformative new identity that would eventually take him from local lecture halls to international stages.

Kumar Vishwas, born Vishwas Kumar Sharma on 10 February 1970, has built a multifaceted career spanning poetry, academia, and politics. After studying at Lala Ganga Sahay School and Rajputana Regiment Inter College, he began his studies at Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College. Dissatisfied with engineering, he pivoted to Hindi literature, eventually earning a PhD and changing his name to maintain a distinct poetic identity.

His literary work is characterized by a deep reverence for Hindi, Urdu, and Sanskrit, often incorporating commentary on contemporary Indian issues. This versatility has allowed him to expand into television, hosting the comedy show KV Sammelan on Aaj Tak since 29 September 2018 and appearing as a guest on popular programs like The Kapil Sharma Show. He has also contributed to cinema, writing songs for the 2018 films Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran and Veer Bhagat Singh.

Vishwas's political journey is equally complex. He was a founding member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and served on its National Executive. His political career included a 2014 Lok Sabha election bid from Amethi, where he secured 25,527 votes against Rahul Gandhi. His tenure in politics was marked by various controversies, including legal disputes over copyright infringement involving Amitabh Bachchan in 2017 and allegations regarding political statements involving Arvind Kejriwal in 2022.

Beyond the stage and the political arena, Vishwas has maintained a presence in musical reality television, appearing as a judge on shows like Indian Idol and the spiritual musical series Swarna Swar Bharat. His life reflects a constant negotiation between traditional literary roots and the modern demands of mass media and political activism.
