How a South Korean boy band fused cinema and music for a global debut
In short: P1Harmony did not just launch with a song; they premiered with a feature film. By blending K-pop with cinematic storytelling, the six-member group created a unique identity that has since propelled them onto Billboard charts and international stages, redefining the traditional path for a modern idol group’s rise to prominence.
Formed by FNC Entertainment, P1Harmony consists of Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, and Jongseob. The group’s name is a deliberate construction: 'Plus' combined with the number '1' and 'Harmony,' symbolizing the members coming together to achieve infinite possibilities. Their debut was unconventional, introduced through the 2020 film P1H: The Beginning of a New World, a fusion project that merged K-pop aesthetics with narrative cinema. This cinematic foundation set the stage for their official musical debut in October 2020 with the EP Disharmony: Stand Out.
The group’s trajectory reflects a rapid expansion into international markets. By early 2022, they embarked on their first overseas tour, performing in Seoul and eight cities across the United States. Their global presence grew through strategic collaborations, such as working with American artist Pink Sweat$ on the digital single Gotta Get Back and British trio New Hope Club on Super Chic. These efforts culminated in significant chart milestones; in June 2023, their sixth EP, Harmony: All In, debuted at No. 51 on the Billboard 200, marking their first appearance on the chart.
Commercial success has continued to climb, with the group achieving their first music show win in 2024 for the lead single Killin' It. Their momentum remained strong into 2025 with the release of their eighth EP, Duh!, which recorded over 440,000 copies sold in its first week according to Hanteo. This release also secured their second No. 1 spot on South Korea's Circle Album Chart. Beyond the music, the group maintains a dedicated fan base known as P1ece, a name signifying that fans are the essential, indispensable components of the P1Harmony collective.
