In short: Born into a wrestling dynasty, Tessa Blanchard carved a path through the independent circuit and major promotions like Impact and AAA. She became a trailblazer in intergender wrestling, eventually capturing the Impact World Championship in 2020. Her career remains a complex mix of high-profile athletic achievements and significant public controversy.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on July 26, 1995, Tessa Blanchard is a third-generation wrestler. She is the daughter of Tully Blanchard, the granddaughter of promoter Joe Blanchard, and the stepdaughter of Magnum T. A. Despite this lineage, her path to the ring was not immediate. After high school, she briefly attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and worked in nightlife, keeping her wrestling ambitions hidden from her family until she began training at Highspots Wrestling School in 2013 under George South.

Blanchard quickly established herself on the independent circuit, winning the 2014 ECWA Super 8 ChickFight tournament. Her career gained significant momentum through intergender matches, a style that defined her tenure in Impact Wrestling. In 2019, she and Sami Callihan won the Mashup Tournament, and on January 12, 2020, at the Hard to Kill pay-per-view, she defeated Callihan to become the first woman in history to hold the Impact World Championship. Her reign lasted until June 2020, when she departed the company and was stripped of the title.

Beyond Impact, Blanchard achieved international success, becoming the first American to win the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship in 2019. She also served as a stunt double for Florence Pugh in the 2019 film Fighting with My Family. However, her career has faced scrutiny; in January 2020, she faced allegations of bullying and racism from fellow wrestlers, including an incident involving Black Rose, which Blanchard denied. More recently, her return to TNA in 2024 was met with negative fan reactions, and she eventually departed the promotion in 2026 after being asked to choose between her commitments to TNA and CMLL.

Blanchard's personal life has also been public, including her marriage to wrestler Daga in 2020 and their subsequent separation in 2023. In 2026, she announced her engagement to wrestler Esfinge. Her legacy remains defined by her technical ability and her role in breaking gender barriers in professional wrestling, even as her career continues to be marked by professional transitions and external controversies.
