In short: Russian professional mixed martial artist Said Nurmagomedov has navigated a diverse career spanning multiple organizations. Since his 2009 debut, he has transitioned from regional titles to the global stage of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, earning multiple performance honors along the way.

Born on April 5, 1992, Said Nurmagomedov began his professional mixed martial arts career in 2009. His early career was marked by significant victories in regional promotions, including a first-round armbar win against Oscar Nave at World Ultimate Full Contact 15. After a three-year hiatus, he returned to competition in 2012, eventually securing the vacant AFC Bantamweight Championship by defeating Abdul-Rakhman Dudaev via unanimous decision. During his early years, he also achieved a knockout victory against Akhmed Sarapov. He later secured a TKO win over German Barsegyan after a doctor intervened during the first round.

Nurmagomedov's ascent included a stint with Absolute Championship Berkut and a period with World Fighting Championship Akhmat, where he captured the WFCA Bantamweight Championship. His move to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) began on July 14, 2018, with a split decision victory over Justin Scoggins. Since joining the promotion, he has competed in the bantamweight division, facing opponents such as Ricardo Ramos, Raoni Barcelos, and Cody Stamann. His tenure with the Akhmat promotion included a unanimous decision win over veteran Diego Marlon. He also successfully defended his status in the bantamweight Grand Prix during his time with ACB.

His technical proficiency has been recognized by the UFC through various accolades. He earned two Performance of the Night awards, specifically for his victories over Cody Stamann on January 22, 2022, and Muin Gafurov on October 21, 2023. Additionally, his bout against Vinicius Oliveira on February 1, 2025, resulted in his first Fight of the Night award, despite the match ending in a unanimous decision loss for Nurmagomedov. His recent performance in a 2025 bout against Bryce Mitchell resulted in a unanimous decision loss. Furthermore, he was previously forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout against Jack Shore due to visa complications.
