Can a group of Faithful outsmart a secret circle of Traitors?
In short: In the high-stakes American version of The Traitors, social deduction meets psychological warfare. A group of contestants must identify secret saboteurs before they are murdered or banished, playing for a prize fund that shifts dramatically depending on whether the deceivers are caught or remain hidden until the very end.
The third season of the American iteration of The Traitors, hosted by Alan Cumming, premiered on January 9, 2025. The production, which follows the same format and challenges as the British version, was filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands. The cast consisted of 21 original players, though two contestants, Wes and Derrick, entered the game during the second episode without any prior public announcement. This season continued the series' trend of featuring a cast composed entirely of public figures and reality television participants.
The game's mechanics create a volatile tension between two groups: the Faithful and the Traitors. While the Faithful aim to identify and banish the deceivers during the nightly Round Table discussions, the Traitors secretly select a player to 'murder' each night, resulting in that person's immediate exit. The stakes are tied directly to the outcome of these social maneuvers. If the group successfully identifies all the deceivers, the prize money is split equally among the remaining Faithful. However, if any Traitors survive until the conclusion, they claim the entire pot for themselves.
The season reached its climax on March 6, 2025. The victory went to the Faithfuls—including Lord Ivar Mountbatten, Gabby Windey, Dylan Efron, and Dolores Catania—in a thrilling conclusion. They successfully navigated the deception to win the prize, leaving Britney Haynes as the runner-up. Haynes, who was playing as a Traitor, was unable to secure the full pot for her side, marking a victory for the honest players in this psychological battle of wits.
