A quest for a voice that changed a life
In short: When Arisu Yamabuki was in junior high, a mysterious radio personality known only as Apollo provided him with solace. Now a high school sophomore, he is determined to uncover her true identity by helping four aspiring broadcasters fulfill their diverse professional dreams.
On September 20, 2023, Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine started publishing Masakuni Igarashi's manga, Tune In to the Midnight Heart. The narrative follows Arisu Yamabuki, a second-year high school student, as he searches for the real name and face of the broadcaster who once comforted him during his junior high years. The manga's serialization began in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine. It is also available in English through the K Manga digital service.
The search leads Arisu to a specific high school broadcasting club, where he encounters four girls each pursuing a distinct path in the voice industry. One aspires to be an announcer and serves as student council vice president; another aims to become a voice actress; a third seeks to become a VTuber—specifically the persona Ikon Sumeragi; and the fourth strives to be a singer, finding success through Arisu's support. These four club members each possess unique ambitions within the broadcasting field. Each girl's journey is intertwined with Arisu's mission to find Apollo.
The series has seen significant expansion beyond its original print format. From January 6 until March 24, 2026, the Ka-Anival!! broadcast an anime adaptation by Gekkou. programming block. Following the conclusion of the first season, a second season was announced for a 2027 premiere. As of August 2026, the manga has been compiled into fourteen tankōbon volumes. The anime production was directed by Masayuki Takahashi and features music by Kuniyuki Takahashi. Furthermore, the 2024 tenth Next Manga Awards saw the series place 14th within the print category.
