In short: In a world ruled by women, survival is a struggle for those destined to be mere extras. After dying in his previous life, an office worker finds himself reborn as Leon Fou Bartfort, a 'mob' character in an otome game, armed only with his memory of the game's mechanics.

The series, originally a web novel published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō between October 2017 and October 2019, follows Leon's attempt to navigate the Holfort Kingdom. In this setting, the social hierarchy is rigid, and those categorized as 'mobs'—background characters with plain features meant to blend into the scenery—face significant hardships. Leon's survival depends on his encyclopedic knowledge of the game his sister, Marie Fou Lafan, once blackmailed him into playing. The story began as a self-published web novel before being picked up by Micro Magazine. This light novel series eventually received a manga adaptation by Jun Shiosato.

Leon's journey involves disrupting the established social order. He seeks out Luxion, an artificial intelligence contained within a small metal ball with a red lens, which serves as a powerful cheat item. Despite his desire for a quiet life and a normal marriage, his actions frequently pull him into the center of complex political schemes and noble intrigues. His path crosses with key figures like Olivia, a modest commoner, and Angelica Rapha Redgrave, the game's original villainess. His adventures are further complicated by the presence of Julius Rapha Holfort, the crown prince. He also encounters various other capture targets, including the devious Jilk Fia Marmoria.

The narrative explores the subversion of typical otome game tropes. Instead of following the prescribed plotlines, Leon's presence alters the destinies of the main characters. For instance, through Marie's interference, Angelica avoids her original fate and instead becomes a close friend and fiancée to Leon. The story highlights the tension between the intended game narrative and the chaotic reality created by Leon's intervention in the Holfort Kingdom's social structure. This deviation is exemplified by the character Olivia, a kind commoner who eventually marries Leon. Furthermore, the series features an anime adaptation produced by the studio ENGI.
