In short: In the 2025 romantic comedy Would You Marry Me?, two strangers enter a temporary, simulated union to compete for a high-stakes reward. This South Korean series explores the intersection of personal desperation and financial ambition, following a pair who must navigate the complexities of a staged relationship to secure their future.

The narrative centers on a man and woman who agree to a three-month sham marriage, driven by the lure of winning a luxury house intended for newlyweds. The male lead is portrayed as a talented but emotionally wounded heir to a historic South Korean bakery, while the female lead is a designer attempting to rebuild her life following a failed engagement. Their path is complicated by a cast of characters including a smooth-talking former fiancé, a devoted family doctor, and an ambitious executive who climbed the corporate ladder from humble beginnings.

Produced by Studio S and Samhwa Networks, the project was led by writer Lee Ha-na, known for her 2014 work Cunning Single Lady, with direction from Song Hyun-wook and Hwang In-hyeok. The production involved a significant financial commitment, evidenced by a 17.94 billion won contract signed in August 2025. Casting reports surfaced in late 2024, with the leads officially confirmed by February 2025. The series made its broadcast debut on SBS TV in October 2025, airing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Beyond its domestic television run, the show found a substantial international audience via Disney+. Despite limited availability in regions including Europe, India, and the Middle East, the series achieved a record-breaking 173 points on the platform. It holds the distinction of being the first Korean production on the service to surpass the 100-point threshold, marking a notable milestone for the genre's global reach. Through this success, the show highlights how high-concept romantic premises continue to resonate with viewers worldwide, even when restricted by regional streaming limitations.
