The AEW TNT Championship belt is a canvas for wrestling's most eccentric custom designs.
In short: Beyond its role as a secondary television title, the AEW TNT Championship has become a rotating gallery of bespoke leather and metal. From rhinestone-encrusted bling to spray-painted blood motifs and Lakers-themed gold, the belt frequently transforms to reflect the shifting personas and personal histories of its various titleholders.
Established in 2020 at the request of WarnerMedia, the TNT Championship was designed to anchor AEW's weekly television programming. While the promotion initially debuted a standard red-strapped belt, the design quickly became a site for creative expression. Following the death of the second champion, Brodie Lee, AEW retired the original red version to honor him, transitioning to a black-strapped standard design. This sparked a trend where champions began commissioning custom variations to suit their specific ring personas.
The belt's evolution is marked by extreme aesthetic shifts. In 2021, Miro introduced a white-strapped version featuring the coat of arms of his hometown, Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Later, Sammy Guevara debuted the 'TNT Bling' belt, which featured 1,577 rhinestones. Other notable iterations include a gold-strapped 'Lakers belt' created for Scorpio Sky, a snow-camo version for Mark Briscoe, and a pink-strapped design for Kyle Fletcher. These modifications often involve collaborations with specialized belt makers like Ron Edwardsen and Belts By Dan.
The belt has also served as a narrative device within storylines. In 2024, Jack Perry physically altered the championship by blacksmithing the metal and spray-painting it with red splatters to mimic blood, aligning with his 'Scapegoat' persona. Such transformations highlight the title's unique status; while fans and media often debate its position as a secondary or 'mid-card' title, AEW leadership maintains it is a top-tier championship. With 33 reigns recorded by October 2026, the belt remains a dynamic, ever-changing object that bridges the gap between professional wrestling competition and high-concept character design.
