From Broadway stages to training the next generation of musical theatre stars
In short: A Tony Award nominee and versatile performer, Betsy Wolfe has navigated everything from Woody Allen musicals to Disney's Frozen. Beyond her acclaimed stage roles, she has transitioned into entrepreneurship, co-founding a specialized training program to shape the future of musical theatre talent.
Betsy Wolfe has established herself as a formidable presence on Broadway, earning a 2023 Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Anne Hathaway in & Juliet. Her career spans a diverse array of productions, including playing Jenna Hunterson in the Broadway run of Waitress from June 2017 to January 2018, and Cordelia in the Broadway revival of Falsettos between late 2016 and early 2017.
Her vocal versatility has been noted by critics, such as Charles Isherwood of The New York Times, who praised her "bright, strong soprano with a keen belt" during her 2013 Off-Broadway performance in The Last Five Years. This range has allowed her to move between genres, from the comedic musical Bullets Over Broadway in 2014 to the Metropolitan Opera's production of Die Fledermaus in late 2013.
Beyond performing, Wolfe has expanded into education and entrepreneurship. In February 2018, she and Cynthia Rose announced the founding of BroadwayEvolved, a company dedicated to providing workshops and masterclasses for young actors. This move toward mentorship complements her established career as a singer and actress, which includes notable appearances at Carnegie Hall and various Off-Broadway revivals.
Her career also features notable roles in television and film, including a part in the CBS drama Instinct and a lead role in the 2020 festive movie Estella Scrooge: A Christmas Carol With A Twist. Whether on stage, screen, or in the recording studio, Wolfe remains a central figure in contemporary musical theatre.
