From school plays to major anime roles and a debut studio album
In short: Erika Harlacher’s journey into voice acting began with a childhood dream of working in pajamas. Today, she is a prominent figure in English dubbing, lending her voice to iconic characters in massive video game franchises and critically acclaimed anime series across major streaming platforms.
Born on August 29, 1990, Erika Harlacher grew up in Camarillo, California. Her path to professional acting was influenced by an interview with Christy Carlson Romano, who noted the flexibility of voice work. While her mother initially viewed the field as a hobby rather than a career, Harlacher pursued the craft through workshops and internships, such as a production internship at Bang Zoom! Entertainment.
Harlacher has built an extensive portfolio in both anime and video games. In the anime sphere, she has voiced notable characters including Ami Kawashima in Toradora!, Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Violet in Violet Evergarden. Her video game credits are equally significant, featuring roles such as Ann Takamaki in Persona 5, Venti in Genshin Impact, and Kyoko Kirigiri in the Danganronpa series.
Her career has seen both significant milestones and industry complexities. In 2014, she voiced Kyoko Kirigiri, a character described as the calmest among a group of eccentric characters. By 2015, her work was recognized by Manga Entertainment, which listed her among their top five English voice actresses. Beyond voice work, she has expanded into music, releasing her debut studio album, Nondisclosure, on May 16, 2025.
In the digital space, Harlacher has also engaged with audiences through a YouTube Let's Play channel started in 2014. Her professional life has occasionally intersected with industry-wide discussions; in April 2025, she was involved in a public discourse regarding SAG-AFTRA guidelines and the voicing of characters like Venti in Genshin Impact.
