From Virginia Beach to Disney stardom: the trajectory of Malachi Barton
In short: Success in the entertainment industry often requires a blend of raw talent and early immersion. For Malachi Barton, this meant moving from a musically driven home in Virginia Beach to the professional stages of Los Angeles to build a career that spans television, film, and music.
Malachi Daniel Barton began his journey in an environment where creativity was the primary currency. As the only child of singer-songwriter Felicia Barton—a former American Idol contestant—and guitarist Loren Barton, he was raised in a household deeply rooted in the arts. This foundation provided early exposure to the industry, leading him to begin auditioning for television roles as a young child and eventually landing his first acting gigs in 2014.
His professional ascent followed a steady path through various guest appearances before securing major roles with Disney Channel. He made his television debut in 2014 on the comedy series Workaholics, followed by guest spots on shows like See Dad Run and Henry Danger in 2015. By 2016, he reached a significant milestone as Beast Diaz in the sitcom Stuck in the Middle, a role he performed for three seasons until 2018.
Barton's versatility is evident in his transition between live-action, animation, and musical genres. Barton portrayed Leo within Elena of Avalor and Lionel during Fancy Nancy (2018–2022), plus acted in the 2019 motion picture Dora and the Lost City of Gold. His work on Disney Channel original films includes Under Wraps (2021) and its sequel, as well as upcoming roles in the Zombies franchise.
Looking ahead, Barton's career continues to expand into new territories. He is set to play Victor, a vampire character, in Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires in 2025, with a follow-up film scheduled for 2027. Additionally, he was cast as Jake in the series Coven Academy and will star as Fletch in Camp Rock 3, both slated for release in 2026. His involvement in the Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour further cements his status as a multi-talented performer.
