In short: In the 2005 musical Pooh's Heffalump Movie, the residents of the Hundred Acre Wood live in terror of the elephant-like Heffalumps. When young Roo ventures into the forbidden Heffalump Hollow, he discovers that these feared creatures are not monsters at all, but gentle beings capable of deep, lasting friendship.

Released in February 2005, Pooh's Heffalump Movie marked a significant milestone for the franchise as the first theatrical film to feature a real Heffalump. While these creatures had appeared in earlier works like the 1968 featurette Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day, they were previously relegated to nightmare sequences alongside woozles. The film, produced by Disneytoon Studios and Walt Disney Animation Japan, was originally intended for a direct-to-video release before being upgraded to a theatrical run.

The story follows Roo, who ignores the warnings of his friends—including Rabbit, who organizes an expedition to capture the supposed invaders—to befriend a young Heffalump named Lumpy. Lumpy, whose full name is Heffridge Trumpler Brompet Heffalump, IV, is initially misunderstood by the forest inhabitants. The narrative serves as a gentle exploration of prejudice, as Roo eventually challenges his friends to look past their fear and recognize the benevolence of the Heffalumps after Lumpy saves him from a pile of logs.

The production was notable for being the final theatrical film to feature voice actor John Fiedler as Piglet before his death, and the last for Ken Sansom. Musically, the film was anchored by five original songs from Carly Simon. Despite the studio, Walt Disney Animation Japan, closing in June 2004—eight months before the film's premiere—the project achieved a worldwide gross of $52.9 million and received generally positive critical reception, with an 81% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
