In short: Set in a Sutton, London retail branch, PhoneShop follows a naive university graduate navigating the cynical world of mobile sales. From incompetent managers to schemes involving fake criminal boyfriends, the series explores the absurdities of low-level retail through a diverse and eccentric cast of characters.

PhoneShop is a British sitcom that first appeared as a Channel 4 pilot on 13 November 2009. Following its successful pilot, a six-episode series was commissioned by E4 and began broadcasting on 7 October 2010. Created and directed by Phil Bowker, the show captures the frantic environment of a mobile phone shop in Sutton, London.

The narrative centers on Christopher, a gentle and naïve university graduate who joins the team on a one-day trial to replace the incarcerated "Little" Gary Patel. As he integrates into the team, he faces the mockery of colleagues like Jerwayne and Ashley, while attempting to maintain high-minded corporate ethics—even when he is caught mis-selling contracts to elderly customers.

The workplace is populated by a colorful cast, including the incompetent manager Lance, who lives in fear of his psychotic wife, Shelley. Other key employees include Janine, who manages the pay-as-you-go section, and the duo of Jerwayne and Ashley, who frequently engage in unrealistic schemes. The series also features Razz Prince, an unhinged boss who serves as a primary antagonist in the first two seasons.

The show explores themes of social hierarchy and professional identity. For instance, Christopher eventually lies to his parents about being promoted to Store Manager to avoid embarrassment, while Jerwayne—despite his boasts of being an irresistible ladies' man—still lives with his mother and drives a faulty Audi TT.
