The 2024–25 season marks Barcelona's most successful year since 2014–15
In short: Despite a nomadic existence away from their iconic stadium, FC Barcelona secured a historic domestic treble this season. From record-breaking goal milestones to dramatic comeback victories in the Champions League, the Catalans navigated a complex transition period to reclaim their status as a dominant force in Spanish football.
The 2024–25 campaign served as a pivotal chapter for FC Barcelona, marking the club's 125th year of existence. While they competed across three major competitions—La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League—the season was defined by logistical hurdles. Due to UEFA regulations preventing mid-season venue changes during the Champions League league phase, the club remained at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys while awaiting renovations on their primary home ground, Camp Nou.
On the pitch, the results were significant. Barcelona secured a domestic treble, notably overcoming rivals Real Madrid in two separate finals and twice within the league standings to claim the title. While they fell short in the Champions League after a semi-final extra time loss to Inter Milan, the season's overall success surpassed anything seen by the club since 2014–15. Key milestones included Robert Lewandowski becoming La Liga's all-time leading Polish goalscorer and Barcelona becoming the first team in league history to reach 6,500 total goals.
The season was also a period of high turnover and record-breaking debuts. It saw the departure of long-time full-back Sergi Roberto and the arrival of Dani Olmo for €60 million. Notably, Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the second youngest goalscorer in Champions League history. Despite late-season pressure from Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, Barcelona managed to maintain a competitive edge, culminating in a dramatic 4–5 comeback win against Benfica to secure automatic advancement in Europe.
