In short: Caden Pinnick’s journey from Del Oro High School to the Washington State Cougars is defined by multi-sport excellence. A standout in football, basketball, and baseball, he has rapidly ascended through the collegiate ranks, proving his versatility and leadership on the field through a remarkable freshman season at UC Davis.
A native of Roseville, California, Caden Pinnick’s path to collegiate football was shaped by a diverse athletic background. Before joining the Washington State Cougars, he established himself as a premier talent at Del Oro High School in Loomis. There, he excelled not only as a quarterback but also as a high-scoring basketball player and an outfielder in baseball. His high school football career was marked by significant production, including a senior season where he threw for 2,946 yards and 30 touchdowns while rushing for 489 yards and nine touchdowns.
Pinnick’s transition to college football at UC Davis showcased his ability to perform under pressure. After redshirting his freshman year in 2024, he competed for the starting role in 2025. His breakout season was characterized by a series of dominant performances, including a record-tying third consecutive week being named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week. During this period, he achieved notable victories, such as a 31–27 win over rival Sacramento State, a game noted for being one of the best in the series' 71-year history.
By the end of his standout freshman campaign, Pinnick had amassed 3,206 passing yards and 32 touchdowns, alongside 437 rushing yards and three touchdowns. This performance earned him unanimous selection as the Big Sky Freshman of the Year and first-team FCS Freshman All-America honors. Following this success and facing multiple transfer offers, he committed to transfer to Washington State University in January 2026 to play under head coach Kirby Moore.
