His early years were defined by high-scoring performances at the high school level. During his freshman season at La Mirada High School, he recorded 57 receptions and five touchdowns, even earning a scholarship offer from the Colorado Buffaloes within his first month of play. By his junior year at Los Alamitos High School, he had evolved into a dominant force, totaling 65 receptions for 1,062 yards and 15 touchdowns, earning first-team All-American honors.
Lemon's collegiate career was heavily influenced by coaching changes and strategic commitments. Originally committed to the Oklahoma Sooners alongside quarterback Malachi Nelson, he later flipped his commitment to the USC Trojans following coach Lincoln Riley's move from Oklahoma to USC. While his 2023 freshman season at USC saw limited production, his 2024 campaign was a breakout period. He emerged as the Trojans' leading receiver with 52 receptions for 764 yards and delivered a massive performance against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, accumulating 256 all-purpose yards.
The pinnacle of his amateur career arrived in 2025 when he won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, beating out finalists such as Jeremiah Smith of Ohio State. This made him only the second player in USC history to receive the honor, following Marqise Lee in 2012. His professional ascent was finalized during the 2026 NFL draft, where the Philadelphia Eagles selected him with the 20th overall pick, notably jumping ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers' plan to take him at 21. On May 1, Lemon solidified his professional future by signing a four-year, $20.8 million fully guaranteed rookie contract.
