In short: Cassadee Pope first captured hearts as the frontwoman of Hey Monday, but a life-changing victory on The Voice propelled her into the country music spotlight. Now, after a decade of chart-topping country hits, she is returning to the high-energy genre where her musical journey began.

Cassadee Pope’s musical trajectory is defined by a series of significant genre shifts. She rose to prominence in the late 2000s as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the pop-punk band Hey Monday, releasing their debut album, Hold on Tight, in October 2008. Following a solo acoustic tour in early 2012, she entered the national spotlight during the third season of the singing competition The Voice. After being selected by coach Blake Shelton, she became the season's first female winner in December 2012.

Her transition to country music brought substantial commercial success. Her 2013 debut solo album, Frame by Frame, reached number one on the Top Country Albums chart, selling 43,000 copies in its first week. She achieved several milestones in the genre, including a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her duet with Chris Young, "Think of You". Her single "Wasting All These Tears" also became a significant hit, reaching number 37 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In recent years, Pope has undergone a deliberate creative pivot. In December 2022, she announced her intention to leave country music to return to her pop-punk roots, describing the move as a return to her creative home. She cited the influence of the genre's authenticity on her new work and noted that the politics associated with country music were a factor in her departure. This evolution is marked by re-recordings of her country hits in a pop-punk style and the upcoming release of her fourth studio album, Hereditary.
