The hero with god-like power who refuses to fight
In short: Imagine a warrior with stats many times greater than any other contender, yet he refuses to enter even the safest zones. In the world of Gaeabrande, Seiya Ryuuguuin possesses overwhelming strength, but his extreme reticence and obsessive preparation drive the goddess in charge of his mission to the brink of madness.
The series, originally titled 'Kono Yūsha ga Ore Tsuēee Kuse ni Shinchō Sugiru', began its life on the Japanese website Kakuyomu in June 2016. Written by Light Tuchihi and illustrated by Saori Toyota, the story follows the novice goddess Ristarte. Tasked with saving the S-class world of Gaeabrande from a Demon Lord, Ristarte summons Seiya Ryuuguuin, a human hero whose physical attributes and combat potential are vastly superior to any other candidate.
However, Seiya's immense power is paired with a debilitating level of caution. He refuses to engage in combat or even enter low-risk areas until he has trained to a level of comfort that satisfies his own rigorous standards. This behavior extends even to his interactions with Ristarte herself. His training is so intense that he has even managed to defeat the 'Divine Blade,' a brawny god known for his prowess with a sword.
The franchise has expanded significantly since its online debut. Fujimi Shobo acquired the title, releasing the first light novel volume in February 2017. A manga adaptation by Koyuki followed, running in Monthly Dragon Age from November 2018 to October 2022. The story reached a wider global audience through an anime adaptation by White Fox, which aired between October and December 2019. While his caution is initially seen as a hindrance, the narrative suggests that his extreme vigilance may ultimately be the only way to survive the dangers of Gaeabrande.
