In short: A versatile talent who transitioned from a Chelsea youth prodigy to a crucial component of Rangers' success. Having represented England at multiple youth levels, Sterling has navigated a complex journey of loans and injuries to secure his place in the Scottish Premiership.

Born in England to Jamaican parents, Dujon Sterling's professional journey began within the prestigious Chelsea Academy. After joining the club at the under-8 level in 2007, he rapidly ascended through the ranks. His early promise was evident during the 2015–16 FA Youth Cup campaign, where he scored in both the semi-final and the final. By the 2016–17 season, at just 16 years old, he was promoted to the U23 squad, where he featured twenty-four times and scored four goals.

Sterling's professional career officially commenced in 2017, marked by his first professional contract on his 17th birthday in October. He made his Chelsea senior debut on 20 September 2017 against Nottingham Forest. To gain experience, he underwent several loan spells, including stints at Coventry City, Wigan Athletic, Blackpool, and Stoke City. His time at Blackpool was particularly notable for his versatility, as he competed for the right-back position but also covered left-back and played in a back three.

A pivotal moment in his career arrived on 30 May 2023, when he signed a permanent four-year deal with the Scottish Premiership club Rangers. His adaptability was immediately tested; during an injury crisis, manager Phillipe Clement deployed him in central midfield during a Europa League fixture against Real Betis. This versatility paid dividends, as Sterling went on to win the 2023-24 Viaplay League Cup with Rangers, earning man of the match honors in the 1-0 final victory over Aberdeen. He also scored his first senior goal for the club in March 2024 against Benfica.
