In short: Born in 2006, Egor Dëmin has rapidly ascended from the Moscow Basketball Academy to the NBA. After a standout tenure in Spain with Real Madrid and a historic recruitment to BYU, Dëmin made his mark in Brooklyn, setting rookie records and establishing himself as a formidable professional talent.

Egor Vladimirovich Dëmin, born on 3 March 2006, began his basketball journey in Moscow, training at the Trinta School until 2021. Despite interest from local clubs like BC Khimki, he remained at the academy to work with coach Evgeny Gorbunov. By age 15, Dëmin had secured a six-year contract with Real Madrid, where he quickly distinguished himself. During his time in Spain, he helped the cadet team win the 2022 Spanish Cadet Championship and played a pivotal role in Real Madrid B’s 2023 Euroleague Basketball Next Generation Tournament victory, notably scoring 26 points in the final.

In 2024, Dëmin transitioned to the United States, becoming the first five-star recruit for the BYU Cougars. His collegiate performance earned him a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team. Following this success, he was selected 8th overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2025 NBA draft and signed with the team on 3 July 2025. His rookie season was marked by significant milestones, including breaking the Nets franchise record for three-pointers in a single game by a rookie and establishing a new NBA rookie record for consecutive games with a made three-pointer.

Despite a promising start, Dëmin’s rookie campaign was cut short on 9 March 2026, when he was sidelined for the remainder of the season due to plantar fasciitis. He returned to form during the 2026 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, where he was named a second-team All-Summer League performer and recognized by ESPN as the 'Best Sophomore.' Throughout his rapid development, Dëmin has drawn comparisons to elite players like Luka Dončić, reflecting his high ceiling as a professional athlete representing both his club and the Russian national team.
