In short: After making his Major League debut in 2014, Jake Lamb became a fixture of professional baseball. From All-Star status to navigating a complex web of contracts and injuries, his career highlights the relentless, shifting nature of life in the big leagues.

Born in 1990 and raised in Seattle, Washington, Jake Lamb's professional journey began with a choice. Despite being drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 38th round in 2009, he opted to attend the University of Washington, where he became an All-Pac-12 Conference player. He originally played for the Visalia Rawhide in the California League during 2013. This followed his professional debut with the Missoula Osprey.

Lamb's Major League career truly ignited with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Following his 2014 debut, he experienced a standout 2017 season, earning an All-Star selection. During that year, he demonstrated significant power, hitting 30 home runs and recording 105 runs batted in (RBI). However, the physical toll of the game became evident; a shoulder surgery in August 2018 sidelined him for the remainder of that season. His performance in 2016 saw him finish as a finalist for the last All-Star spot. He also hit 29 home runs that year.

His subsequent years were marked by a constant movement between organizations. He signed with the Oakland Athletics in 2020, the Atlanta Braves in 2021, the Chicago White Sox in 2021, and the Toronto Blue Jays in 2021. He also spent time with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and San Francisco Giants. His time with the Dodgers included a stint in Triple-A Oklahoma City. He also played for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

By late 2025, Lamb transitioned from the field to the front office. After being released by the San Francisco Giants in June 2025, he accepted a player development role with the Arizona Diamondbacks, serving as an assistant in their baseball operations department in 2026. Before joining the Diamondbacks' staff, he played for the Sacramento River Cats. He had previously signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates organisation.
