In short: In just a few seasons, Jye Amiss has transformed from a highly-touted draft pick into one of the AFL's most clinical forwards. His journey through injury, selection uncertainty, and record-breaking scoring feats marks the rise of a modern footballing talent.

Born in July 2003, Jye Amische emerged from the South West Football League in Western Australia, having played for the Busselton Football Club. His ascent through the ranks was rapid; after representing Western Australia at the under-19s level, he was selected by the Fremantle Football Club with the 8th overall pick in the 2021 national draft.

Amiss's professional career has been defined by explosive scoring bursts tempered by physical setbacks. He made an immediate impact during his 2022 debut against North Melbourne, scoring two goals, including one with his very first kick. However, his progress was interrupted by a kidney injury sustained while playing for Peel Thunder, which required surgery and a 12-week recovery period.

The forward's efficiency has become his trademark. In 2023, he earned a Rising Star nomination and finished the season as Fremantle's leading goalkicker with 41 goals. His 2026 campaign was particularly remarkable; despite a slow start that led to calls for his omission, he eventually surged to kick 64 goals across 26 games. This feat included a 50-goal milestone, making him the first Docker to reach that mark since Matthew Pavlich in 2012.

Beyond pure scoring, Amiss has demonstrated elite contested play, breaking the club record for marks inside 50 with nine in a single match against the West Coast Eagles. His consistent excellence has secured his future at the club, evidenced by a six-year contract extension signed in July that ties him to Fremantle until at most the end of 2029.
