In short: Kevin Godley’s career is a masterclass in restless creativity. From the complex art rock of 10cc to pioneering music video direction for The Beatles, he has never settled. Whether building orchestral guitar devices or global cloud recording platforms, Godley consistently pushes the boundaries of what a musician can achieve.

Born on 7 October 1945 in Prestwich, Lancashire, Kevin Godley emerged as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose career is defined by constant evolution. He first gained prominence as a drummer and vocalist for the art rock group 10cc, contributing to four studio albums before departing in 1977. His exit was driven by a desire to pursue independent projects, specifically a concept album titled Consequences, which utilized a specialized 'Gizmo' device he and partner Lol Creme developed to make electric guitars mimic orchestral sounds.

Godley's influence extends far beyond the drum kit. In 1996, he co-directed the music video for The Beatles' 'Real Love' alongside Geoff Wonfor. His technological curiosity later led him to develop 'WholeWorldBand,' an iPad platform designed to function as a global cloud-based recording studio. This project was so innovative that it was selected as one of eight finalists from over 500 applicants for the SXSW Music Accelerator Award in 2013.

Despite the occasional commercial setback—such as the niche following of the three-LP Consequences box set—Godley has maintained a prolific output. In 2017, he launched an unconventional collaborative project for his solo album, Muscle Memory, inviting musicians to send him rough ideas to refine. Although the project faced delays after a PledgeMusic campaign stalled, the album was eventually released in 2021 by The state51 Conspiracy. Today, the Staffordshire University honorary Doctorate of Arts recipient works as a Creative Director for the 'Group Of Humans' community.
