The rare feat of winning three different World Series
In short: Michael Conforto is one of only three players in history to have competed in the Little League World Series, the College World Series, and the Major League World Series. From Oregon State to the New York Mets, his journey through baseball's highest stages is a remarkable statistical anomaly.
Born on March 1, 1993, Michael Conforto's ascent through the ranks of American baseball is marked by elite versatility and high-impact performance. Before reaching the Major Leagues, he was a standout at Redmond High School in Washington, where he excelled as a shortstop on the baseball team and played both quarterback and safety on the football team. His collegiate career at Oregon State University was equally prolific; in 2012, he led the Pac-12 with 76 RBIs, setting a single-season record for the Beavers.
The New York Mets used their 10th overall pick to select him during the 2014 MLB draft's first round. He joined the franchise's major league roster in 2015, marking the 1,000th player to play for them. That same year, he achieved a rare distinction by playing in the World Series, making him one of only three players—alongside Ed Vosberg and Jason Varitek—to have appeared in the Little League, College, and Major League World Series.
Conforto's career has been defined by significant milestones and physical challenges. He was an MLB All-Star in 2017 and earned All-MLB Second Team honors in 2020. Despite facing a shoulder injury in 2022 that forced him to miss the entire season, he has continued his professional journey, moving from the Mets to the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and eventually the Chicago Cubs.
