In short: Morgan Schneiderlin’s journey through professional football is a testament to persistence. After rising through the ranks at Strasbourg, he moved to England, where he became one of the most respected defensive midfielders in the Premier League, earning both player and fan accolades at Southampton.

Born in Obernai, Alsace, on 8 November 1989, Schneiderlin began his footballing education in the youth ranks of Strasbourg in 1995. After a decade of development, he signed his first professional contract in 2005. Following Strasbourg's relegation from Ligue 1 in the 2007–08 season, he sought a new challenge in England.

He joined Southampton in June 2008, a move that would define his career. Over seven seasons, he made 261 appearances and helped the club achieve consecutive promotions to the Premier League. By the 2012–13 season, he was recognized as one of England's premier defensive midfielders, earning Southampton's Player of the Season award and being voted both Players' Player and Fans' Player of the Year.

His performances earned him a high-profile move to Manchester United in July 2015 for approximately £25 million. While he contributed to United's 2016 FA Cup victory and 2016 FA Community Shield win, limited playing time led to a move to Everton in January 2017 for a fee reaching up to £24 million. His career later took him to Nice, a loan at Western Sydney Wanderers, and Konyaspor.

On the international stage, Schneiderlin represented France at every level from under-16 upwards. His first senior appearance occurred in June 2014, and he was selected for both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2016, a tournament where he ended as a runner-up.
