In short: Before becoming a household name in Tamil films, Ramdoss faced years of hardship. From working as a goldsmith in Malaysia to sleeping homeless at a temple in Chennai, his journey from a junior artiste to a star defined by a single character is a remarkable tale of persistence.

Born in 1978, the actor known professionally as Munishkanth began his journey in the film industry with little certainty. In 2002, he traveled from Nilakottai to Chennai, seeking a breakthrough. His early years were marked by the grueling reality of working as a junior artiste, followed by a two-year stint in Malaysia where he earned a living as a goldsmith. Upon returning to Chennai, his struggle intensified; he frequently slept homeless at the Vadapalani temple while attempting to find his footing in the industry.

His path to stardom was not a direct ascent. He initially appeared in minor roles in films such as Mani Ratnam's Kadal and C. V. Kumar's Soodhu Kavvum, both released in 2013. His career shifted significantly through his involvement in short films, specifically the Naalaya Iyakkunar show on Kalaignar TV. A pivotal moment occurred when his friend, Kaali Venkat, encouraged him to dub for a character named Munishkanth in Ram's award-winning short film, Mundasupatti.

This character proved so impactful that after the 2014 feature film Mundasupatti became a critical and commercial success, Ramdoss adopted 'Munishkanth' as his official stage name. Since then, he has expanded his repertoire from comedic roles in films like Ratsasan (2018) and Petta (2019) to more emotionally complex characters, such as his role in the 2025 film Middle Class. This evolution highlights a transition from a niche comedic performer to a versatile actor in the Tamil language cinema landscape.
