A former mafia delinquent must babysit a deer-human hybrid
In short: What happens when a high school student trying to maintain a perfect image is forced to lead a club for a supernatural deer-girl? Torako Koshi’s quest for dignity is systematically dismantled by the chaotic, reality-bending antics of Noko Shikanoko, a character who defies both logic and school rules.
A second-year student at Hino Minami High School, Torako Koshi manages a split persona. While she projects the image of a dignified Student Council President and model honor student, she secretly harbors a past as a mafia delinquent. The arrival of Noko Shikanoko, a transfer student who is a hybrid of human and sika deer, disrupts her existence. Noko establishes the 'Deer Club,' forcing Torako into the role of its president and primary guide to human life.
The narrative thrives on the contrast between Torako's internal struggle and the external absurdity of Noko's existence. Noko possesses supernatural abilities, such as the power to remove and use her antlers and an uncanny ability to influence others. Curiously, almost every character in the school—except for Torako—seems completely unbothered by Noko's reality-violating behavior. This creates a unique comedic dynamic where only the protagonist suffers the psychological toll of the deer-girl's 'psychotic' activities.
The world-building expands through the 'Deer Hole,' a mysterious organization revealed in the anime's final episode. This group sends various mascots from locations like Hokkaido, Ojika, and Nara to challenge Noko. While Torako struggles to maintain her sanity, she is joined by a diverse cast, including her obsessed younger sister Anko, a freshman named Bashame who wants to become a deer, and a neurotic Student Council secretary. The series explores themes of identity and the friction between public facades and private chaos.
