How a drainage area flood triggers a collective survival strategy
In short: When their nest is threatened by rising water, these ants transition from individual insects into a powerful super-organism. This video explores the collective intelligence required to survive environmental catastrophe and the impact these swarms have on human infrastructure.
The footage captures ants forced to evacuate a nest situated in a drainage area. To survive, they utilize a collective behavior that transforms them into a super-organism capable of coordinated action.
The series highlights how these collective behaviors can disrupt human life by attacking food supplies, immobilizing transport, and undermining urban infrastructure. Using advanced photography, the content examines the intelligence behind these invasions and the methods humans use to counter them.
