Making a Pangolin an Influencer | Natural World | BBC Earth · 6:03 · Video: BBC Earth · Watch at the source

In short: To save the world's most trafficked animal, conservationists are turning to celebrity influence. This film follows Maria Diekmann's mission to introduce the elusive pangolin to a global audience to spark awareness and combat illegal poaching.

The pangolin is a shy, scaly mammal found across Africa and Asia that has become the most poached and illegally trafficked animal on the planet. Conservationist Maria Diekmann, based in Namibia, works to rescue and rehabilitate these creatures.

To address the crisis, Diekmann travels to Vietnam, Thailand, and China—regions where demand for pangolin products is highest. She eventually joins forces with a Chinese megastar to launch a campaign aimed at bringing visibility to an animal that remains largely unknown to the general public.
