Why the world's most wanted animal is a scaly, shy mammal
In short: Pangolins are the most poached and illegally trafficked animals on Earth. This video follows conservationist Maria Diekmann as she travels through Africa and Asia to confront the global crisis driving these shy creatures toward extinction.
The film tracks Maria Diekmann, a Namibia-based conservationist who rescues and rehabilitates local pangolins, as she investigates the intense demand for their products in Vietnam, Thailand, and China. To combat this crisis, she partners with Chinese megastar Angelababy to launch an awareness campaign for an animal many people have never encountered.
By exploring the heart of the illegal trade, the journey highlights the urgent need to protect these unique, scaly mammals from the relentless pressures of global poaching.
