The world's most wanted animal is a shy, scaly mammal
In short: Despite being little-known to the general public, pangolins are currently the most poached and illegally trafficked animals on Earth. This journey follows a conservationist from Namibia to Asia to uncover the global crisis threatening these unique creatures.
Conservationist Maria Diekmann works to rescue and rehabilitate pangolins in Namibia. To address the root of the crisis, she travels to Vietnam, Thailand, and China—regions where the demand for pangolin products is highest.
The film highlights an emotional collaboration between Diekmann and a Chinese megastar to create a campaign for an animal many people have never heard of. It explores the intersection of local conservation and the global illegal wildlife trade.
