In short: Between 1990 and 1997, Chevie Kehoe led a militia dedicated to establishing a white ethnostate in the Pacific Northwest. His path to this extremist goal was paved with high-profile robberies, arms trafficking, and a brutal series of murders that eventually led to his life imprisonment.

Kehoe’s criminal activities were tied to the 'Northwest Territorial Imperative,' a white separatist ideology. He formed the Aryan People's Republic (APR) militia to bring down the U.S. government. To fund and promote this organization, Kehoe and his accomplices engaged in a five-state crime spree including kidnappings, firearms violations, and violent shootouts with law enforcement. A significant portion of their loot was used to purchase an Idaho property intended as a training base.

During January 1996, a high-profile crime took place as Kehoe alongside partner Daniel Lewis Lee killed eight-year-old Sarah, along with her parents Nancy and William Mueller, who worked as a gun merchant. The pair, dressed as FBI agents, overpowered the family and suffocated them with plastic bags and duct tape after finding $50,000 in cash and a large cache of weapons. While Lee was sentenced to death for the murders, Kehoe received three consecutive life sentences.

Kehoe's history is marked by escalating violence, including ordering the murder of Jeremy Scott in 1995 to secure a relationship with Scott's wife. He also faced allegations regarding prior knowledge of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, though the FBI found no evidence linking him to Timothy McVeigh. Following his convictions, Kehoe has been held in various federal prisons, most recently at USP Terre Haute as of 2022.

The investigation into Kehoe's crimes was significantly aided by his own mother, Gloria Kehoe. Fearing for her life, she contacted the ATF with information that helped lead to the arrests of the five primary defendants involved in the organization's criminal activities.
