The striker who broke age limits to become a global icon
In short: In 2012, Ewa Pajor became the youngest player ever to debut in Poland's Ekstraliga. To do so, officials had to grant her a special permit because she was under the league's minimum age requirement. Today, that teenager is one of the most decorated strikers in world football.
Pajor’s ascent began with a regulatory exception. At just 15 years and 133 days old, she debuted for Medyk Konin on April 14, 2012. Because the league rules typically restricted play to those over 16, the Polish Football Association (PZPN) had to issue a special permit to allow her onto the pitch. She made an immediate impact, scoring two goals in that debut match.
Her career trajectory since then has been defined by consistent dominance across three major European leagues. After winning multiple titles with Medyk Konin, she moved to VfL Wolfsburg in 2015. During her tenure in Germany, she secured five Frauen-Bundesliga titles and won the league's top goalscorer award twice. Her ability to perform on the biggest stages was cemented by her frequent appearances in UEFA Women's Champions League finals and her role as a primary offensive threat.
Now playing for FC Barcelona, Pajor continues to break records. She became Poland's most effective national team scorer on September 6, 2022, surpassing the previous record held by Marta Otrębska. Her accolades include being named Polish Women's Player of the Year six times and finishing 8th in the 2025 Ballon d'Or. From a teenage prodigy requiring special permission to play, she has evolved into a captain who leads her country into its first-ever UEFA Euro appearance.
